Justin Bates hit a crucial unbeaten 59 to lead Sussex Second XI to only their second championship win of the season.
Sussex, set 204 to beat Durham at Stockton, eased home by four wickets with 9.3 overs to spare.
Jamie Carpenter (38) and Bas Zuiderent (36) put on 75 for the third wicket after Sussex lost openers Wasim Khan and Dominic Clapp with only 15 on the board.
Medium-pacer Nick Creed earlier took 4-35 and Glen Read 3-23 as Durham were dismissed for 189 shortly after lunch.
Scores: Durham 314-9 dec and 189; Sussex 300-8 dec and 207-6.
