A Brighton man has launched an internet tennis dating service which he hopes will help players across the country improve their official ratings.
Ben Moore's Tennis Exchange pairs up players of similar ability and then forwards the results of their matches to the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).
Everyone from humble beginners to Tim Henman has an LTA rating and this can only be improved by competing against similarly rated players.
He is in talks with big name sports manufacturers such as Nike and Adidas to secure advertising on the website.
It already carries banner advertisements from AOL and Microsoft.
Mr Moore is working with Robert Ellis, a tennis coach at the prestigious Harvard Club in Chelsea.
He provides daily tips to help visitors to the site improve their game.
The service costs members £2 a month.
Mr Moore admitted it was difficult to get tennis authorities to approve the site.
He said: "It took a long time to penetrate the Lawn Tennis Association."
Operating without the support of a big bank, Mr Moore said funding was an uphill struggle.
He said: "We're doing this off our own backs."
Mr Moore hopes to create a similar service for golfers. He owns the web address www.golfexchange.co.uk and thinks enthusiasts would jump at the chance to improve their handicap.
