A man was rescued after fire broke out in a pub early today.
More than 20 firefighters from East Preston and Littlehampton tackled the blaze believed to have started in the kitchen at the Fletcher's Arms in Angmering.
The pub won the 1998 Pub of the Year Competition organised by the Arun and Adur Branch of CAMRA.
Fire crews used a thermal imaging camera to search the building.
The man had to be led to safety from the ground floor of the pub and was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
The first floor of the pub was damaged in the blaze, which started just after midnight.
