Sussex are going Dutch as they try to continue their climb up the National League table at Hove tonight.
The county have called up Dutchman Bas Zuiderent as replacement for Michael Bevan for the day-night match against star-studded Lancashire (4.10).
Zuiderent has not figured in the first team since he made 24 at Derby in the final game of last season when Sussex clinched the second division title.
It was one of only four appearances for the 23-year-old in his first season with the county.
But coach Peter Moores is convinced Zuiderent is a much better player and capable of filling Bevan's shoes for the next three weeks while the Australian takes part in a one-day tournament against South Africa in Melbourne.
Moores said: "Bas was frustrated last season because he expected to be playing more first team cricket than he did.
"He had a few games, but we didn't feel he was ready mentally and struggled to have much of a game plan.
"But without a shadow of doubt he is a much better player than he was a year ago. He's got some runs in one-day cricket for the second team and part of his learning process as a cricketer will be to see how much he has improved."
Robin Martin-Jenkins will have a fitness test on the shin injury which has plagued him for the past three weeks, but if he comes through Sussex are likely to keep changes to a minimum.
They have won three of their last four games in the one-day league and another victory tonight would lift them further away from the bottom three relegation places.
"The lads have had a week off and are refreshed for a very intensive period of cricket, starting tonight," added Moores.
"It will be a hard game. They have some good one-day players, but the atmosphere should be good and we will be going hell for leather for the victory."
