Wyndeham Press Group, the Hove-based specialist printing company, has bought Print Direct Holdings, a specialist printer for the direct mail sector, for £15.6 million.

Print Direct, a web offset colour printer based in Stockport, employs 70 people. It has a prestigious client base.

In the financial year ended March 31, 2000, Print Direct made a profit before tax of £1.9 million on a turnover of £11.4 million.

Its net assets at the year end were £6.9 million and net borrowings amounted to £2.6 million.

Wyndeham's chief executive Bryan Bedson said: "There has been considerable capital investment in Print Direct in recent years, positioning it at the leading edge of its sector in the industry.

"We are delighted with this acquisition, which will be an excellent addition to our commercial division, complementing Aquaprint and widening the range of services we are able to offer the fast-growing direct mail sector."

The Horsham office of law firm Thomas Eggar Church Adams acted for Wyndeham on the deal and the Hove office of HLB Kidsons provided the financial advice.
