The father of ousted Big Brother star Andrew Davidson has spoken out about the moment his son was voted out of the house.

Denis Davidson said his son was very disappointed when he was nominated to leave by the Big Brother household.

"We are a competitive family and I knew he would be upset to be out so early."

Andrew, 23, is a graduate of the University of Sussex. The former English and media studies student was the second person to be ejected from the house after Sada Wilkinson was turfed out nearly two weeks ago.

He shared the first kiss of the TV experiment last week with fellow Sussex graduate Mel, but 68 per cent of the voting public still wanted him to go.

Andrew's father believes many of the people who voted against Andrew, including Big Brother housemate Darren, were jealous of his son's relationship with Mel.

Denis, who lives in Hemel Hampstead in Hertfordshire, said his son found it hard to adjust to the freedom of not being in the Big Brother house. "He kept looking around and saying how weird it was not to be surrounded by cameras and microphones everywhere."

Andrew had no idea many of his conversations were overheard. "A lot of what he said to Mel he tried to whisper and he didn't think the microphones would pick it up."

Denis believes his son was too genuine and honest to survive in the Big Brother household.

"He didn't have any strategy for winning. He was just totally himself, totally genuine all the time. He said himself he was too honest."
