The Ramblers' Association, of which I am a member, successfully prosecuted the obstructor of public footpath, Framfield 9, following East Sussex County Council's refusal to do so.
Now the council, in the interest of the landowner, has suspended the enforcement action and proposed a diversion.
Why now? Diversion was an option many moons ago but is proposed only after the obstructor has been dealt with by the court.
I know the council not anti-walker - it recently took over of the upkeep of the Vanguard Way in Sussex - so why this strange behaviour? Have we heard the full story?
