Is the Palace Pier drilling for oil? Its owners might be, as the pier head looks very much like an oil rig from the sea shore.
This is especially true at night, with all its scaffolding reaching skywards, silhouetted by recently ill-fitted spot lights, so dazzling it is virtually impossible to look towards the sea from Kemp Town seafront.
No wonder people would rather gaze lovingly at the beautiful and glorious West Pier.
