Sussex police are catching speeding drivers quicker than ever thanks to new technology being used across the force.
A new computer system can print images of the number plates of speeding drivers before their cars have even passed officers at the side of the road.
Images from a mobile speed camera are fed into a computer which immediately produces the evidence police need to secure a conviction.
The camera is triggered when a laser beam detects a vehicle has broken the speed camera. It is used in areas where it is unsafe to stop passing vehicles.
PC Stephen Lee, one of the officers using the unit, said: "I may be unpopular but if this saves lives, it's worth it."
