As I am a hypocrite, according to East Sussex County Councillor Mike Skinner (Opinion, July 31), I felt I should put the record straight.
Nicholas Hoogstraten, or one of his companies, has blocked a right of way. This is illegal.
The courts rightly have ordered the route to be cleared. He or his company were given 90 days to clear the path. Why was the offer of an alternative route only made at the 11th hour, the proposed diversion being in the interest of the landowner?
The alternative route is not acceptable and from the tone of Coun Skinner's comments, I doubt he has seen it. I am sad he supports Mr Hoogstraten in his attempt to deprive the public of its rights.
By the way, I frequently walk the High Weald.
