A few weeks ago, I visited Croydon and was very impressed by the excellent tramway system it has in operation. They have 18 miles of tramtrack reaching to all parts of the area.
Such a system would be ideal for Brighton and could help solve our traffic problems. Existing railway lines could be used for certain routes and the whole system could stretch from Newhaven to the east and Worthing to the west.
The initial outlay would be large but, if the trams ran along designated tracks, they would travel much faster than buses without hindrance from other traffic.
