I would like to warn readers about an incident which happened on a visit to Brookland Pleasure Park in Worthing. My son, partner and myself were riding the train which circles the lake. As we passed the pitch and putt golf course, a golf ball travelling at high speed smashed into my partner's arm, causing him a lot of pain. Fortunately it just missed my young son, who is 11, and myself. I am eight months pregnant.
We complained to the train operator who informed us this had happened several times before. Complaints were subsequently sent to both the golf course and Worthing Borough Council, to no avail.
This could so easily have been a tragedy had a small child been sitting where we were and could so easily be put right if a fence was erected. It's a shame you have to worry about this happening at a play area otherwise so lovely for children.
