Michael Alldis's jinxed British super-bantamweight title defence has been called off for a fifth time.

The Crawley fighter was due to make a second defence against Scotsman Drew Docherty at the Brentwood International Centre next Saturday.

But Alldis has an abscess under his arm and has been unable to train this week, prompting him to call off the contest.

Alldis, 32, said: "It happened a couple of weeks ago and I haven't been able to train, so we have postponed it.

"I wanted to fight but I decided to use my brain. I have too much to lose to be stupid about this.

"I will see Barry Hearn promoter on Monday and I shall know more then about when we can get it back on."

It was announced Alldis would meet Docherty immediately after he had made a successful first defence of his title against Shaun Anderson in Glasgow in January.

However, the contest has been called off a number of times since then, firstly by Alldis due to personal reasons and latterly over problems with the venue.
