Thousands turned out for a colourful finale to Hastings
Carnival Week.
An estimated 20,000 people lined the streets to watch the procession of floats and fancy-dressed revellers parade through Hastings Old Town on Friday night.
Mayor Jackie Dowling waved the procession off and the Old Town came to a standstill as a marching band led the way.
Carnival queen Leah Newman, 18, and princesses Vicky Griffiths and Lisa O'Connell, took part in the procession.
Themes for the occasion ranged from Peter Pan and The Wizard of Oz, to clowns and a huge colourful dragon.
A float designed by a group of fishermen's wives landed first prize for best in show after their nautical-themed attraction proved to be a winner with both the cheering crowd and judges.
The 32nd carnival week came to an end yesterday with the annual fishing boat race.
John Hodgson, president of the Hastings Old Town Carnival Association, said the event was one of the most successful ever.
Money raised from events held during the week will be distributed among local causes.
