The aftermath of Pride was breathtaking.
On the morning after, Preston Park resembled nothing less than a landfill site with swarms of seagulls feeding off ankle- deep debris.
A paltry 12 men were employed to manually clear the rubbish discarded by thousands. A week on and the park had still not been properly cleared of rubbish.
Despite improved toilet facilities, significant numbers of men, in particular, preferred to urinate and worse al fresco. As the previous year, children have already started discovering used condoms in the shrub areas.
We would like to remind the Brighton and Hove Council of the rising tide of anger surrounding the way in which Preston Park is managed. We would like to hear from Ian Taylor (events officer) and what he proposes to do about these matters.
We would also like to hear from Rob Fraser, chair of the Preston Park Consultative Forum, as to whether event management will be included in the plans for the historical restoration of the park.
