Brighton and Hove Council is in favour of another park and ride site to replace the one at Withdean which is badly-sited and too small.
But the authority has been unable to find any alternative site for a scheme designed to take some of the traffic and parking out of the town centre.
Councillors will have to make up their minds soon if their bid for £3.75 million in Government cash is successful.
That's why they're looking hard at a variety of sites mainly near the A23 London Road. Waterhall Valley is too visible and has access problems. But Braypool across the road could fit the bill, provided that it is well-landscaped and there is enough space.
There is bound to be opposition whichever site is chosen. But Braypool is probably the best of a small bunch.
Environmentalists are also saying park and ride adds to congestion and takes away from existing bus services, but this would not apply to an out of town site.
Councillors will have to make up their minds if they really believe in park and ride. Other cities have shown how it can work and work well.
Listen carefully Actor Arthur Bostrom is best-known for his role in the TV series 'Allo 'Allo and was often told to "Listen very carefully" and that's exactly what he does as a volunteer for Brighton, Hove and District Samaritans in their base at Clarendon Road.
Brighton has one of the highest suicide rates in the country because of its large transient population and many people who are down on their luck.
Arthur and scores of other helpers do not attempt to provide any answers but listen to people's problems.
In their quiet way, they help provide support for men and women who are at a low ebb and prevent the number of suicides from rising even higher.
House prices It's hard to spot the difference between two council houses in Newick Road on the Moulsecoomb estate in Brighton.
But there is one. Jayne Smith's home costs £10 a week more in rent than that of her neighbour a few doors down the road.
Brighton and Hove Council cites modernisation work in the past as the main reason for the different charges but it couldn't account for such a big variation.
Unless it agrees to harmonise the unequal rents, the people of Newick Road should tell officials some home truths.
