A schoolboy is fighting for his life after a town centre attack.

The 15-year-old was dragged into an alleyway in Albert Road, Hastings, during carnival night on Friday as he walked through the town centre at 10.20pm.

He was punched and kicked by his attacker who also stamped on his head.

The teenager was rushed to the Conquest Hospital, Hastings, where he was put on a ventilator.

He has now been transferred to a specialist head injuries unit at Hurstwood Park Hospital, Haywards Heath.

He has a brain haemorrhage and swelling to the brain.

Doctors fear he may not make a full recovery. His condition is described as critical but stable.

Police are yet to identify the victim.

A 20-year-old man from Hastings was appearing before magistrates today in connection with the incident.
