Councillor Skinner said local and knowledgeable opinion is what should count when considering the diversion of a public footpath at Framfield (Argus, August 2). He is wrong.
East Sussex County Council did not use its authority to force the landowner to open the footpath after it had been illegally blocked, even after the magistrates' court ordered the path be re-opened.
Any law-abiding person has the right and duty to become involved in an issue where the law is so obviously being ignored.
