Brighton multimedia firm Maxim Training has been sold to KnowledgePool, a subsidiary of a computer services firm ICL, for an undisclosed sum.
The sale will bring new jobs to the town. Janet Barrett, marketing and communications manager for Windsor-based KnowledgePool, said: "This will have job implications.
"We will be seeking to expand the development team at Maxim in Brighton."
She would not say how many new staff would be needed at Maxim's Bond Street headquarters.
Maxim Training is one of the country's top suppliers training courses on CD-Roms and via the internet.
It has been bought after 20 years of trading in which it has supplied training for BT, British Airways and Motorola. It currently employs 50 people. KnowledgePool has a workforce of more than 450 employees in seven different countries.
The acquisition of Maxim Training is the second this month by KnowledgePool. It bought US corporate career portal WorkLife Solutions on August 4.
David Welham, chief executive of Maxim Training, said: "Maxim brings to KnowledgePool a strong pedigree in management and personal skills development.
"We have a reputation for developing high quality content.
"In return I believe our customers will benefit from KnowledgePool's extensive e-learning structure."
David Wimpress, executive chairman of KnowledgePool, said: "The acquisition of Maxim Training will enable us to offer a much wider service.
"Maxim Training's expertise in the development of high quality course content will add significantly to our e-learning portfolio."
