It was launched early this year to celebrate the beauty of a quiet Sussex town and mark the new millennium.
Residents of Telscombe were invited to send in photographs of the area which is famous for its striking cliffs and popular beaches.
The winning entry would be featured on a calendar for 2001 seen by hundreds of people.
The winner would also have the kudos of the photograph displayed at the town's civic centre and receive a £50 prize for their efforts.
But eight months on just one entry has been received - and even that is not suitable because it is a picture of three children sent in by their grandmother.
Kathleen Verrall, clerk to Telscombe Town Council, said she was very disappointed with the lack of entries.
She added: "It was launched just before Christmas and had lots of publicity because we wanted some local input for our millennium calendar because a lot of people think 2001 is the new millennium.
"We thought we would be inundated with photographs but we haven't got any suitable entries.
"If we knew this was going to happen we would have thought again and opened it up to a wider area.
"We have only had one entry and it's not a view, it's a lady's three little grandchildren playing in the garden which is not really suitable for our calendar.
"There is a £50 prize and the pride of having the winning photograph on the calendar for all to see and an enlargement to be hung in the new civic centre.
"I thought we would be swamped with photographs. I can't believe it.
"I have no idea why only one person has responded because I am sure there are lots of talented people with cameras who would like to get involved."
The calendar is being published by the town council and will feature other photographs of Telscombe town and village, East Saltdean, Telscombe Cliffs and the surrounding countryside. The council is now accepting entries after the original deadline of August 31 and the judges hope to declare a winner in late September.
Entrants must live in the town council's boundaries and photographs should be of local scenes.
If you live in the town council's boundaries and would like to enter the competition, write to Mrs Verrall at Telscombe Civic Centre, 360 South Coast Road, Telscombe Cliffs, East Sussex, BN10 7ES.
