OH dear! Sally Hall's review of This Rough Magic (Argus, August 22) makes me wonder if she saw the same production as I did - which was thoroughly enjoyed by all those watching around me.
Her description of it as a "shambles, elitist, pretentious and alienating" is simply not true.
The fact it was staged on the beach, was free and included many community groups and people hitherto unconnected with drama proves its inclusivity.
Young people are familiar with Shakespeare, who is a core component of GCSE and A-level English.
This Rough Magic was a truly fantastic spectacle that must have required impressive organisational skills.
While this was not The Tempest as we know it, the production was magnificent. To me, the crowd sounded far from bored!
