Police are hunting a bike-riding sex attacker who pounced on an 11-year-old girl in a busy shopping street in Brighton.

The victim was at the junction of London Road and Ann Street when the cyclist stopped, chatted to her and then carried out the indecent assault.

He rode off up Ann Street as the girl burst into tears. Shoppers came to her aid.

The offence happened between 11.15am and 11.45am on Tuesday and police are appealing for witnesses.

Detective Constable Linzi Naldrett, of the Brighton police child protection team, said: "The victim was very upset by the incident and we urgently need to speak to witnesses."

The attacker was in his late 20s or early 30s, 5ft 7in, with brown curly hair and was wearing a red vest top and yellow shorts with blue stripes. He was riding a blue mountain bike.
