A man is calling for road safety improvements after a car careered into his garden and tore down his hedge, fence and gate - for the fourth time this year.
Dennis Mugridge says he could have been killed when the Suzuki four-wheel drive car smashed into his garage in the latest accident at his house in Haywards Heath.
The jeep crashed into Mr Mugridge's garage after leaving the road at a tight corner near the junction of Balcombe Road and Burrell Road.
Mr Mugridge said: "We weren't in the house at the time, thank goodness. But I often spend Saturdays in my garage. It could have been a much more tragic story.
"We are living in fear of a really bad crash happening here. I'm just praying myself or my wife won't be in the house or the garage if it happens again - which it probably will."
Mr Mugridge says cars regularly speed around the corner, which comes after a long, straight stretch on the Ardingly road.
"There's no signs at all to warn them when they are coming to the corner. Really, there should be a traffic calming scheme like there is in Ditchling - but I suppose that would be seen as too expensive.
"At the very least they could put one of those black and white arrow signs up there. It's just too dangerous without one."
Mr Mugridge and his wife, Marie, were visiting their son at the time of the latest crash, which caused an estimated £5,000 of damage. The garage will have to be rebuilt and Mr Mugridge's car, which was in the garage, will also need repairs.
He said: "It has all been very traumatic. Two of the drivers who have crashed into my garden just drove off and left me to pick up the pieces.
"It has already cost me a lot of money. I just dread to think what might happen next."
