I really enjoyed Adam Trimingham's article on pioneering female councillor Maureen Colquhoun. My husband was a Labour councillor at the same time Maureen was a councillor and she became both a colleague and a friend. She was definitely a woman of and for the people.
Robin Richards, the only other woman on the council, was also a challenging force and together they really gave the men in grey suits something to think about.
