Chiddingly have cut the gap at the top of the table to 17 points after beating title rivals The Boards by seven wickets.
Ringmer still lead division one but Chiddingly have now jumped above Boards with just two games to go.
After early morning rain, Boards were happy to post a total of 190 all out which included 46 from Terry Penfold and bowling figures of 5-66 for Evan Richardson. However, Chiddingly eased to victory in reply thanks to Hugo Youngman (76), David Ellis (43) and Mick Lyons (25 not out).
Ringmer's title charge came unstuck against a Herstmonceux side who included Sussex League player Paul McDonald. The Sidley all-rounder hit 118 not out, including 26 off the final over in a total of 213-5. Andy Samuel added 40.
That late blast from McDonald proved crucial as Ringmer's reply closed for a draw on 189-4, with Richard Jones scoring 61 not out.
The fight to avoid relegation involves seven of the ten sides in the division.
Fletching boosted their chances after Terry Lucas (52) and Mark Horscroft (30) helped in a two wicket triumph at Ditchling. The hosts made 157-8 in a match affected by rain.
Newick also gained a vital win against St Peters. Andy Fitzgerald hit 33 for St Peters but his side were dismissed for 128 with Liam Craig-Davies taking 4-41 and David Hutchinson 3-17. Newick eased in with one wicket down thanks to Ed Young (69 not out) and Sam Carter (54 not out).
Seaford proved they will not go down without a fight as John Smith, with 6-50 and 50 not out, inspired a one wicket victory at Rye.
Clive Chipper chipped in with 33 but Seaford were indebted to last pair Smith and Tim Hurst, who scored 28 off the last three overs to overhaul Rye's 171-9.
Division two champions Crowhurst Park won by four wickets away to third placed Iden. Spinner Gordon Pells took 4-27 as Iden were bowled out for 128.
Wadhurst looked good for the second promotion spot, despite being held to a draw at Battle. Wadhurst were in trouble at 46-5 and 118-8 against the bowling of Brian Scollay (4-82) and Adrian West (3-34), but they mustered 166 all out thanks to late hitting by Graham Everdell (30) and Ryan Olney (22).
Battle held on at 138-9 at stumps. West top scored with 44 while James Harwood was the pick of the bowlers with 6-39.
Matt Bashford hit 35 not out as Heathfield Park took just 6.4 overs to clinch a nine wicket win against Barcombe. The ten-man visitors were dismissed for 40 with Graham Leonard taking 4-17 and Simon Briggs 3-4.
Mark Jordan ripped in with 8-42 at Lewes St Michael's skittled Polegate & Stone Cross for 70. Earlier, St Michael's had posted 210-2 with Graham Hillier scoring 85 and Jon Brown 57 not out.
Dominic Shepherd (36 and 3-10) was an all-round ace as Glynde beat Tunbridge Wells Borderers by six wickets. Neil Sutton chipped in with 4-33 as Borderers were dismissed for 129.

Pollard 41); Buxted Park 178-8 (Andy Meed 53, Mark Smith 7-39) drew with Rottingdean 140-5 (Mark Stansfield 57, Mark Smith 40no).
Division four: Beaulieu 120-7 (Dave Ivins 47) drew with Pevensey 186-6; Robertsbridge 71 (Paul Barter 6-23) lost to Hailsham 72-4; East Sussex Ramblers 130 (Simon Owen 6-48, Tim Tutt 4-47) beat Dicker 67 (Iain Meredith 4-29).
