A teenager is fighting for his life in hospital after a seafront car crash which injured him and two friends.
The 17-year-old, who has not been named, was one of two passengers in a green Rover Metro which crashed on King Edward Parade on Eastbourne seafront at 10.30pm last night.
The car, driven by another 17-year-old male, was travelling westbound when it crashed into a lamppost and a wall near the Hydro Hotel.
The road was closed for more than an hour while emergency services battled to free the three teenagers and clear the wreckage.
The driver of the car, from Eastbourne Road, Willingdon, was treated at the scene for a minor head injury and shock.
His passengers, both 17, were taken to Eastbourne General Hospital.
One suffered a fractured pelvis and leg while the other, also from Eastbourne Road, Willingdon, is in a critical condition with severe head injuries.
His family were today at his bedside in the hospital's intensive care unit.
An investigation is continuing into the crash.
