For Mark Bitton's information, I am sure I am not the only local person qualified to work in the field of scientific endeavour who has had to turn his attention elsewhere for the sake of earning a living, due to a lack of science jobs in the area (Opinion, August 26).
Having spent many years working outside my chosen field, I can assure Mr Bitton I am not sufficiently enough well-heeled to drive house prices up, as he puts it. I am a life-long Brightonian, who would welcome a chance to make better use of the studies I spent so much time and effort on. I cannot be the only person in this position.
