Marc Rice is ready to go on the spot again to kick start another Worthing cup run.

Even if it means risking a repeat of his costly penalty miss in Monday's home defeat to Boreham Wood.

Rice, who scored three goals in Rebels' first two league games, wasted a golden chance to put his side two-up when his tame spot kick was kicked away by in-form goalkeeper Noel Imber.

But, as Rebels prepare for a potentially tricky tie at Ryman division two side Tooting, he insisted: "I'll have any penalties we get.

"On Monday the keeper moved so early he threw me. I took my eye off the ball and scuffed it.

"Simon Funnell said he would take the next one if I missed but then he had his saved as well. There's no real penalty taker at the club but I scored four or five last season."

Rice reached the second round proper with Bognor a few years ago and would love to help Rebels repeat last season's cup run. But their first round defeat at Rotherham was a bitter-sweet affair for the 28-year-old landscape gardener.

He served a one match ban and had to watch with Worthing fans behind the goal as his team-mates enjoyed the big day.

He said: "Because I was suspended I wasn't even allowed to sit on the bench. Hopefully we can go on another run this time but no-one's been thinking about Tooting. We are more disappointed about Monday's result."

Midfielder Paul Kennett is unavailable so Rebels are likely to give Ben Carrington a first start of the season.

Bognor are willing midfield trio Michael Birmingham, David Wright and Jamie Howell to prove their fitness in time for the home tie with Combined Counties outfit Cove.

Rocks were unable to field a recognised midfielder in Monday's 5-2 defeat by Bishop's Stortford.

Mark Tryon and Guy Rutherford are still banned but Wright (dead leg) and Birmingham (swollen ankle) are expected to return from knocks suffered at Thame a week ago.

New wideman Steve Payne is likely to start on the bench for Horsham at Kent outfit Lordswood, despite the absence of wing star Gary Charman (holiday).

Striker Steve Flain is poised for a first start of the campaign as Hornets chase a first ever FA Cup win across the border.

Boss John Maggs said: "I can't believe that record but I'm here to make history."

Paul Stokes returns from a four match suspension as Lewes entertain Ryman rivals Dorking in the cup.

Leighton Allen has only a 50-50 chance of recovering from an ankle injury, while Tommy Pattenden, Paul Arscott and Matt Beeston are all ruled out.
