Micky Adams last night fired back at snipers already writing off Albion's season.

The Seagulls go into the clash against Torquay at Withdean tomorrow having lost three of their four Division Three matches this season, two coming in three days over the Bank Holiday against Lincoln and Kidderminster.

But Albion boss Adams dismisses crisis talk.

He said: "I've learned that people can turn very quickly. They say a week's a long time in football, but three days was a long time for us.

"People have gone from being optimistic about our season. All of a sudden there seems to be a lot of doom and gloom about the place.

"But there's certainly none that I've detected on the training pitch.

"I certainly haven't lost confidence in the players and I'm sure they haven't lost confidence in me. Until that changes we carry on as normal. It's early doors and we've got to get on with it."

The Seagulls are 21st out of 24 in the league.

But Adams said: "League tables don't bother me three weeks into the season.

"We've dominated two games and lost them through individual errors. If teams were steamrollering us I'd be worried, but they're not."

Adams has added Richard Carpenter and Lee Steele to the squad selected for the 2-0 Bank Holiday Monday defeat against league newcomers Kidderminster.

But he also revealed that Steele, out since damaging his right ankle on the opening day against Southend, aggravated his injury in a run-out for the Reserves in their 4-1 defeat at Swindon.

Adams said: "Lee's had a slight adverse reaction and that's disappointing. He's a natural goalscorer and at the moment we need someone a little more composed in front of goal."
