POLICE were today investigating a double death at a home in Peacehaven.

The bodies of two men were discovered in the property in Arundel Road yesterday morning.

It is thought the pair may have carried out a suicide pact.

Police at the scene said the deaths were being treated as suspicious, but added they were not seeking anybody else in connection with the incident.

Police were called to the detached house in a quiet residential area at 11am yesterday after a call from a member of the public. A police officer stood on guard outside.

They discovered the bodies inside. The men were thought to have been dead for some time. Three houses in the street were sealed off and coats could be seen hanging in the porch of the house where the men were discovered.

A Home Office pathologist joined scenes of crime officers at the house last night. The bodies were then taken to Brighton mortuary.

Praying Detective Inspector Ron Preddy, of Eastbourne CID, said it was not known what relationship the two men shared. It was too early to say how the men died or give any indication into their ages.

He added: "It is too early to speculate on the cause of death. We probably will not find that out until Monday at the earliest." The investigation is being headed by Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Moore. Six officers were at the house last night.

A neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: "I used to know the younger one to talk to, but they kept themselves to themselves.

"I saw the younger one in the garden recently, and he had his hands together like he was praying. He looked really fed up."
