Once again Brighton and Hove Council, in the person of Roger Harper, is proposing changes to the traffic arrangements in Clarence Square and Cannon Place without reference to residents there.
After speaking to taxi drivers, the council's proposal is to allow two-way traffic in the narrow road around the square. This would enable three taxis to exit into Western Road simultaneously, avoiding the delays the residents suffer when leaving the area via Cannon Place and the seafront.
Residents frequently get caught up in the car park traffic both entering and leaving the area around their home. There will be a re-shuffle of parking bays, resident permit, disabled drivers and the motorcycle bay. The resultant increase of traffic in Cannon Place will be chaotic.
Is this democracy? I don't think so.
