Albion manager Micky Adams has told hat-trick hero Bobby Zamora he can do better.
Zamora scored his second treble for the Seagulls in Saturday's 6-2 rout of Torquay at Withdean. It lifted the teenager's tally to five in six games this season and 11 in 12 overall following his prolific loan spell last season, which included a hat-trick at Chester.
But Adams believes there is still plenty of room for improvement from his £100,000 buy from Bristol Rovers.
"We have played six games and Bobby has scored in two of them, so I'm not sure how consistent that is," said Adams. "His goals for games ratio is very good, but he can do better. There are other facets of his game we want to improve, particularly his hold-up play."
Zamora admitted: "I can definitely do better. I wasn't too happy with my performance. That's how it goes sometimes, the goals just dropped for me. As long as I keep getting chances then hopefully they will keep going in."
Nathan Jones netted twice on his second start and Gary Hart also got off the mark for the season as Albion bounced back from three straight defeats with their second win in five League games.
"I sleep a lot better when the going gets tougher," added Adams. "I hope we have given the Brighton public renewed hope for the season."
Jones, signed from Southend in the summer, said: "I'm not really renowned for goalscoring. I am more of a creator, but I am delighted with the goals and more importantly the win."
Torquay's Jimmy Aggrey was sent-off with 15 minutes left for violent conduct in an off-the-ball clash with Hart.
Matthew Wicks, signed on a month's loan from Peterborough, had his Albion debut marred by a head wound which required several stitches and eventually forced him off midway through the second half. The young central defender should be available for tomorrow night's Worthington Cup second leg at Millwall as the Seagulls try to overturn a 2-1 deficit.
Darren Freeman has his double hernia operation tomorrow.
