In the 1950s, the need was to provide parking for day coaches. In the 1960s, the prevalent theory was to build a parkway station at Patcham with a hovertrain into central Brighton. We then had the widening of roads to accommodate more traffic. We now have the narrowing of roads to keep it out. Ultimately, anyone who wants to keep a car in town will have to prove they have off-street parking.
