Holly Willoughby has made it her mission to revolutionise Sunday mornings.

The 19-year-old former model from Hove hopes to grab sleepy Sunday viewers by the scruff of the neck and give them a good shake in her new role as TV presenter of the flagship series S Club TV.

Together with her six fellow presenters, Holly has vowed to make the series a benchmark for all that is funky and cool.

The new presenter said she will find that easy as growing up in Brighton was the perfect way to suss out what's hip.

"I love Brighton. It's my home town and I love everything about it. I love living by the sea, I love the nightlife and the buzz of the place."

Holly, who went to Burgess Hill School for Girls, has always dreamt of being a movie star.

She said she would love to play a role like Julia Roberts in Erin Brockovich - someone feisty, strong and determined.

These are attributes that apply to Holly too. After passing her A levels in English, theatre studies and art, Holly threw herself into modelling with the intention of going to university after a year.

She found herself getting job after job, from magazine work for J17 and More to television commercials for Pretty Polly. When she was offered the chance to present S Club TV, she decided university could wait:

"The most important thing was to get my A levels under my belt before I did anything else. I can still go to university if I want, but I want to see where this takes me."

Holly sees the role of presenter as a means to an end. Ultimately her goal is acting but she said S Club TV will be a brilliant stepping stone.

"I was absolutely over the moon when they picked me. I was crying down the phone to the casting director. My mum and dad were gobsmacked. I think we are all still a bit shocked. It's hard to take in. It will be an even bigger shock when the show actually comes out!"

S Club TV is based on a similar premise to the band S Club 7 - seven people with different talents and images who will bring their unique personalities into the mix.

"Everyone has individual talents, like singing or dancing. My talent is the acting side. The idea is for us to bounce off against each other, to bring our different skills together.

"There is a connection to S Club 7; we share the same kind of vibe and there's seven of us. But they are a band and we are presenting a kind of magazine-style TV show."

S Club TV is the brainchild of former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller, who also masterminded the line-up of S Club 7. Hastings-born Fuller was believed to have received a £10 million pay-off when he was sacked by The Spice Girls in 1997.

S Club TV will follow a magazine-style format with sections on fashion, sport and entertainment. There will also be a talent-spotting section for viewers.

Holly said: "It is about being positive and making the most of yourself. The show is saying if you put enough energy into things you can do anything."

S Club TV starts on Sunday on ITV at 9.30am.
