A man was punched repeatedly in the face as he tried to reclaim his stolen mobile phone.

The man, who has not been named, was approached by four men in Cavendish Place, Eastbourne, during the early hours of today and one of them snatched his phone.

As the victim attempted to get his property back he was punched several times in the face.

Another of the men stole the victim's wallet before all four ran off.

The offenders are described as between 19 and 22. One was wearing a white cap and all were wearing light coloured tops and jogging bottoms.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
