Tony Blair's contempt for the intelligence of the British public never ceases to amaze me.

With gravity-defying logic, Blair and his spin doctors have opened their election campaign by claiming the Conservative party's policy to increase public spending in line with the growth of the economy (currently estimated at 2 per cent), will have catastrophic results.

Surely, if a current public service spending base increasing by this amount per annum is so shocking, how much more shocking must be present day spending after almost four years of Labour Government?
