The item about the steam enthusiasts getting married on September 16 made me recall my wedding day on the same date 50 years ago.
We were married at Hove Registry office, which was just that - a tiny, dusty, booklined office. There were no flowers, no music and not even chairs for us or our guests to sit on. Very different from today, thank goodness.
We're still happily married.
