The petition to allow vehicles back into the centre of Preston Park was not started by Andy Rollings (Opinion, September 11). I know because I started it and it will be submitted to Brighton and Hove Council this week. It carries more than 400 names.
No one was consulted and there were no public meetings before the barriers preventing vehicles into the park were erected. One day they weren't there, the next day they were.
The removal of the barriers will enable invalids and those in wheelchairs to use the park again - something they have not been able to do for some time. It will enable people to get closer to the centre of the park, where they will be able to use facilities such as Mr Rollings' cafe.
