A Ferrari driver suffered a punctured lung in a high-speed crash at Goodwood motor racing circuit.
Nigel Corner, from Yorkshire, was taken to St Richard's Hospital in Chichester after yesterday's collision, which wrote off the classic car.
The accident comes three months months after driver John Dawson-Damer, 59, and marshal Andrew Carpenter, 40, from Polegate, were killed in a crash at the Festival of Speed in the grounds of Goodwood House, a mile from the circuit.
Mr Corner was injured on the last day of the three-day motor racing revival event at the famous circuit.
A spokesman said he was in stable condition in St Richard's Hospital.
Coun Michael Hall, county councillor for Chichester East, said: "Racing is a potentially dangerous sport and people who take part are aware of the risks."
Thousands flocked to the event over the weekend, and racing continued as normal after the crash.
Celebrities attending included BBC Top Gear presenter Tiff Needell, who drove a 1962 Aston Martin Project 212, Stirling Moss and Derek Bell. The revival meeting has grown in popularity since it was launched three years ago after Lord March won planning permission to use the track again for racing.
The event centres on cars which made Goodwood famous during the Fifties and Sixties.
