A hotel is to be demolished to make way for a block of flats, despite protests from neighbours.
The Queens Cliff Hotel in Carew Road, Eastbourne, is to be replaced by a four-storey block of flats and penthouses.
Eastbourne councillors gave the proposal the green light at a meeting of the planning committee, despite residents' concerns that the block would be too high.
Councillor Olive Woodhall said: "The building will be higher but I can't see it being too oppressive for people living further down the hill."
