Those visiting the West Sussex County Youth Orchestra concert in Arundel Cathedral recently must have been warmed and delighted by the performance by our young musicians.
This particular concert offered something quite memorable. Were the members of the orchestra inspired by the virtuosity of 16-year-old soloist Carmen Craven-Grew or was this the moment when all the hard work and preparation came together to enable them to play with a maturity and confidence beyond their years?
Whatever the reason, the orchestra gave us an evening to see what young people of West Sussex can do when guided and encouraged by skilled and dedicated music teachers and supported by their parents and schools.
-Chris Gillings, County Councillor
