The recent correspondence regarding farming in Sussex, milk over-production and the demise of dairy farming at Upper Stoneham Farm paints a sad, but all too familiar picture.
A large proportion of the public could not care less where food or milk comes from. The common agricultural policy is a disaster for our farmers and fishermen, yet farmers carry on trying, while agricultural minister Nick Brown sits on his hands, refusing to fight on the behalf of farmers.
Only public opinion, swinging firmly behind our farmers, will have any effect on the agricultural minister and government. The French have realised this, so why can't we?
