Relatives have spoken of their grief for a West Sussex man found dead after a road accident.

Kevin Shiel, 28, was found in his Vauxhall Astra after an accident on the A27 at Poling, near Arundel, on Saturday morning.

Police believe Mr Shiel, of Pelham Road, Worthing, had been travelling on the westbound carriageway when the accident happened.

Mr Shiel leaves a mother, Shirley, four older sisters, two older brothers and a two-year-old daughter, Ceara.

His father, Sean, died three months before he was born.

In a statement, his family said: "On September 16 a piece of a very important family jigsaw was lost. That piece was Kevin.

"Kevin's generosity of spirit and life extended to not only his family but also to his friends, especially his close friends with whom he had been together with since primary school and who were like his second family.

"To describe Kevin would take volumes, as would how much he will be missed.

"Within the hearts of all those who knew and loved Kevin there is a special place which will be forever his."

Mr Shiel had a primary and secondary Catholic school education before going on to sixth form and Northbrook College in Worthing.

When he left full-time education he went to work for the inland revenue.

He left 18 months ago to take up a managerial post in accounts with a local company.

Shortly after that his long-term relationship ended but his young daughter was his life and he doted on her.

His other passion was football and Mr Shiel, like his father and family, was an avid Tottenham Hotspur fan.

He was also involved with the local Saturday and Sunday football league, having played for Civic Sunday, Ferring and St Mary's football teams.

Police are still appealing for information about the crash and anyone able to help should contact Chichester traffic police on 0845 6070999.
