Police in Crawley have recorded a ten per cent reduction in crime in the last five months.
A total of 3,714 crimes were recorded, 390 down on the same time last year.
Forest police division, which covers Crawley, Horsham, Steyning and Pulborough, recorded a total of 6,292 crimes - 548 fewer than less year.
That compares with a two per cent increase across West Sussex.
Forest division solved 1,494 crimes, a 24 per cent detection rate.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Gillings of Forest division said: "We are still making positive inroads into reducing crime."
