I was part of a small group of anti-hunt protesters demonstrating outside the Labour Party conference at the Brighton Centre when we were abruptly moved on by the police, due to the arrival of the Countryside Alliance march.
We were then informed by the officer in charge we would only be able to continue our protest if we retreated all the way back to the peace statue, some considerable distance away.
The police were so heavy-handed in moving our group (containing mainly older women), that an enraged Labour Party delegate came across from the conference to our assistance.
With so many officers on duty that day, why were we not allowed to stay and make our own views on blood sports known? We are, after all, supposed to live in a democracy.
Brighton is my home and I resent being treated in this way just to accommodate the yob element within the Countryside Alliance. They should not be allowed to put their views forward at the expense of others.
