Tom Redwood was given a fond farewell when he retired from the part-time job he has held for the last 17 years.
The 73-year-old lollipop man has been loved by hundreds of schoolchildren for helping them get safely to Stanford Junior School in Brighton.
He has loved them and the job, even though he has occasionally diced with death and been abused by motorists for his trouble. Will his successors come up to Tom's high standard? We'll have to suck it and see.
