Cuts in bus timetables will mean evening routes and unpopular services being axed.
It follows the decision by East Sussex County Council to trim its subsidies following cutbacks in Government grants.
Local Rider services operated by Metrobus will bear the brunt of the cuts, especially evening services.
Other routes between Lewes, Newhaven and Eastbourne and services to villages surrounding Lewes will also be affected.
Bus company Arriva is axing two evening buses on its Local Rider service between Tunbridge Wells and Heathfield and RDH is abolishing two evening services between Lewes and Haywards Heath.
Changes in the timetables are due to come into effect on Sunday, October 8.
Simon Sinnatt, the Conservative Parliamentary hopeful for Lewes, said: "Local villages and towns were just getting used to the new rural services and now they are being slashed.
"The Government provided money for new rural services, but they did it so quickly and in such a gimmicky fashion that we have ended up with routes that cannot weather the fuel crisis."
East Sussex County Council has already asked the Government for more money to help subsidise loss-making routes.
