The parents of murdered schoolgirl Sarah Payne will renew their appeal for measures to protect children from abuse at this week's Conservative Party conference in Bournemouth.

Her parents, Sara and Michael, will call for greater rights of access to information about sex offenders living in the community at a fringe meeting hosted on Tuesday by the News of the World newspaper.

They are also expected to meet Shadow Home Secretary Ann Widdecombe to discuss the campaign launched after their daughter's death.

At last week's Labour conference, Mrs Payne said the couple would not stop campaigning to allow controlled access to information about paedophiles until they achieved success.

She told a meeting: "What we ask is that we can protect our children and protect them well."
