A German-style Christmas is coming to Haywards Heath this year.
It will coincide with St Nicholas Night on December 5, which is celebrated in Germany.
It was orginally planned to have up to ten German market stalls in The Orchards shopping centre.
But that was considered too large. Now the town council and twin town Traunstein are working on a reduced scheme with three stalls to pave the way for a larger event in future years.
The stalls will be in either Sussex Road or South Road.
Town clerk Carol Preston said the event would include German musicians, followed by people dressed as angels and groups of local children celebrating St Nicholas, the German equivalent of Santa Claus.
Mrs Preston said: "The district council support us but there is a restriction banning stalls in South Road.
"We think the community services committee will discuss removing the restriction in November. It will be a bit tight but we can still go ahead in Sussex Road where there is no restriction on stalls."
