Lewes remained unbeaten this season as they knocked Dr Martens League side Langney Sports out with a 2-0 victory in front of the largest crowd at the Dripping Pan for a couple of years.

But the derby victory was marred by three sendings off in the final 13 minutes.

Langney's Paul Stevens was ordered off for foul and abusive language. Team-mate Clinton Moore followed three minutes later after stamping on Stuart Hack.

Lewes' Dave Stevens saw red for raising his arms to Moore in the same incident.

Ryman Leaguers Rooks dominated and went ahead in the seventh minute when a corner from Chris Dicker was turned in at the far post by Tommy Pattenden.

Midway through the first half, Langney produced their first shot of note when Matt Allen's effort was fisted away by Lewes goalkeeper Florian Ludewig. Allen found himself free again in the 30th minute, but his shot was saved by Ludewig.

Lewes should have added to their tally on 37 minutes when Warren Bagnall had a shot blocked by Simon Davey and Pattenden struck the rebound wide.

Dave Stevens saw his close-range drive cleared off the line by Langney defender Darren Baker early in the second half.

The second goal came after 75 minutes when Pattenden was pulled down by Ben Austin and Paul Arscott scored from the penalty spot.
